Trip Lee is one of my favorite artists. I was introduced to his music about 5 years ago, and I loved how different his style was. He made beautiful music that I could enjoy, and rapped about things that I could relate to. I was too excited when I learned that he would publish a book in 2012. This book review is about his second book called 'Rise' which came out early this year. As a faithful fan, I pre-ordered the book, and got it early on in January. I wish I hadn't read it so fast cause as I previewed it to type this up, I enjoyed seeing all the good points he made. I highly recommend you get it. Here are a few of my favorite quotes:

The more unlikely the achiever, the more impressive it is.
When young people accomplish great things, the accomplishment is even more impressive. It’s called the LeBron James effect
— Rise pg. 17

“Most of us don't think of time as a gift....The Bible talks about talks about time as if it's a loan from God that we should invest well....Don't just go with the flow, pay careful attention to how you walk and be intentional with how you use your time”. Pg 54-58

Zeal is fantastic, but we have to get beyond the naive zeal that only get excited about the ‘big stuff’, like our next mission trip or next stage in life. Instead, we should be thinking most about how to be faithful in the everyday normal stuff.
— Pg. 173

What we do with our lives, whether at school, a desk job, or keeping the home in order, is our most basic opportunity to glorify God. That's what your role in his story looks like day in and day out.

Instead of waiting to be offered the new role, play the current one well
— pg. 174
