Hello I'm Ori, Nigerian American lifestyle blogger and career consultant encouraging you to live boldly. Be original.

Neon Soul

Neon Soul

Neon soul is a collection of poetry by Alexandra Elle (aka Alex Elle). I found Alex's work on Twitter through an advertisement of her podcast hey, girl that dropped on iTunes this year. I listened to her podcasts every week because I loved the topics she discussed and her special guests. A few of the main themes in her podcasts are boldness, freedom, and self-awareness. In this poetry book, you see similar themes of love, healing, letting go and raw emotion. I recommend reading this book and checking out her previous work if you're interested in self help books that promote self love and interpersonal growth.

Here are a few of my favorite poems;

credence

trust yourself enough
to let go and live even
when it’s the most
uncomfortable thing
to bear.
— Alex Elle
student

the hardest thing about unlearning
is letting go of what
you thought you
knew.
— Alex Elle
the unlearning

who taught you not
to give to yourself,
that loving yourself
first was a sin?
and how will you
unlearn the destructiveness
of filling them to the brim
when your cup is bone-dry
and paper-thin?
— Alex Elle
resilience practice

look yourself in the eye
when you feel the most hurt, the most ashamed
and unworthy.

when you are barely
able to stand up
straight because the
pain runs deeper
than you are willing
to go.

and love yourself
entirely anyway.
— Alex Elle
