Do you like my logo design, and do wonder where I got it from? This is the talented lady who brought my idea to life. She created multiple options for me to pick from, and all for an affordable price.

My originality is stemmed from being rooted in Christ. Once I realized that my identity is found in Him, I felt like a new person.

Tell us a little bit about yourself

Hi!! I'm Beth Ann. I'm originally from California, and now live in Maryland. I'm an artist, a dreamer, and a writer. I am on team at Thryve magazine (an amazing magazine to equip women to live fully alive) and I nanny the cutest little humans on the planet. I doodle constantly on whatever I can get my hands on. I always seem to have a song stuck in my head so that results in me humming or singing aloud. I'm a big fan of tucking myself away in a coffee shop to have devotional time. I really enjoy reading. My absolute favorite place to be is on the beach.

Iv'e heard you say that college isn't for you, but that is looked down on in society. Why weren't you interested in higher education, and did you face any negativity because of that?

I always did well in school and got good grades but I think it was because I immersed myself in social activities and did every creative elective I could as an outlet. When I got to college, I changed my major so many times because I could not decide what I wanted to do. After quite a few switches and lots of money spent, I decided to take a break. I did not want to keep going after degrees I really had no interest in. I will probably go back one day but not right now. I did not really face any negativity but I do feel pressure because so many people are defined by what they do (especially in the DMV area). It is always the first question when meeting someone new... "What do you do?", "Where did you go to school?" I always have to remind myself that I am not defined by what I do and I never want to be. I am defined by who I am and my identity defines what I do.

What inspired you to become an artist?

I have always been creative (Thanks Jesus). I like to find new uses for things and do DIY projects. Art has popped in and out of my life in different seasons and has always been the best outlet for me to release stress and worry. I like to doodle during my time with Jesus and it has just blossomed over the years.

Was it easy or hard to start your own business?

I honestly never thought I would be doing art as a living so I would have never pursued owning my own business. It was actually people pushing me to start that made me take the leap. I started slowly, made some mistakes, and have grown a lot along the way. I would say that it has been hard at times because of comparison, failure, and getting tired but I always have to remind myself of why I am doing this. I want to make Jesus known through my art. It is all about Him. When I shift back to that mindset and release it to Him, all of it becomes easier.

What advice would you give to people your age who want to do what they love but are concerned about financial stability or the fear of failure?

Christopher Columbus once said, "You can never cross the ocean until you have the courage to lose sight of the shore." I have learned (and am still learning) how to feed my faith and not my fear/doubt. The truth is, it is hard, you will fail sometimes, you will get really discouraged, you will want to quit, you will shed some tears but when you love something, it is worth all of that. It takes a lot of courage to step out and pursue the dream in your heart. Don't let fear hold you back, trust Jesus and let Him lead you every step of the way. Surround yourself with people who will uplift you, correct you, and point you closer to the heart of God. Do not let fear dictate your future.

What makes you original?

Aww I love this question! My originality is stemmed from being rooted in Christ. Once I realized that my identity is found in Him, I felt like a new person. I am free to be me because I am free in Him. I choose to celebrate Jesus in every moment. I also am a big fan of lipstick, big glasses, layering and trying new fashion trends.
